Mobile Service Centres delivering critical flood support

Our Mobile Service Centres (MSCs) are playing a critical role in how we’re supporting Australians impacted by devastating floods.

The mobile office capabilities mean they can be quickly relocated to provide emergency on-the-ground support for Australian Government disaster recovery efforts.

And when flood water began to rise in Mooroopna and surrounding regions, that’s exactly what they did.

The team were humbled by the devastation they witnessed.

‘I had customers walk in pale, having no idea which way to turn,’ said Chris one of our Financial Information Services Officers.

Jan Philips from Neighbourhood House in Mooroopna expressed her gratitude for the support delivered by the Services Australia team.

‘They’ve been so empathetic, and sympathetic, and respectful, and quick. That’s a beautiful thing for our community.’

MSCs are 20-tonne trucks fully equipped with the latest technology. They’re purpose-built to deliver flexible, convenient and connected government services in rural and regional locations.

This isn’t the first time the MSCs have swung into action during an emergency – they have a long history of providing on-the-ground support.

Last financial year, our MSCs and mobile servicing teams visited 53 communities and supported over 4,000 people directly affected by disasters.

Watch as customers reflect on their recent experiences with our staff on-the-ground in flood affected communities.
