Services Australia recruits from many entry level pathway programs to employ people from the widest possible talent pool.
This allows us to have a diverse workforce which reflects the diversity of the community we serve.
Entry level pathway programs also help us hire people from all walks of life, including:
- high school leavers
- university students and graduates
- people looking for a career change
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
- neurodiverse people, including those with autism.
We value staff for their unique qualities, ideas and insights. Their diversity brings a range of skills and perspectives to the workplace.
In return, we offer meaningful and varied work, job security and the opportunity to help the Australian community.
Kathleen, a graduate from the National Graduate Program, stressed how the work is unique. ‘It has this sense of fulfilment that you can’t get elsewhere,’ she said. ‘I think it takes a really good-hearted person to choose to come to Services Australia. And it shows in the kind of graduates you get. They’re amazing people, and I’m proud to be one.’
Sarah entered the APS through the Indigenous Apprenticeships Program (IAP). ‘My mum was actually the person who convinced me to send in my application for the IAP,’ she said. ‘She told me I could get a qualification and some great experience. The rest, as they say, is history!’
Speaking about her experience, Sarah said, ‘You absolutely won’t regret it. It really can be a career for life, and there are no limits to what you can achieve or where you might go.’
This sense of progress drives the careers of our people, as well as how they help Australians get on with their lives. For our staff, helping the community is at the heart of everything they do.
