Another mobile service centre on the road

These big blue trucks help us deliver essential government services to rural and regional communities.

Our mobile service centre (MSC) staff really enjoy what they do - helping people in regional and rural areas access government services, no matter where they live.

We recently launched our newest MSC - Kangaroo Paw II. It joins our other MSCs - Blue Gum, Golden Wattle and Desert Rose.

The MSCs travel around Australia, visiting towns where there’s no face to face support. Once they’re parked, locals can climb on board to chat to a staff member - no appointment needed.

MSC driver, Matt, is one of many Services Australia staff delivering this support across Australia.

‘For some communities, without a mobile option, people would have to make a 600 km round trip to get to a service centre. And while online interaction is great, it isn’t always possible in areas where there’s not enough internet access,’ Matt said.

‘We also have customers unfamiliar with new technologies. Being able to visit these towns makes it easier for them to access our services, and they know that we will always be here to help.’

While the MSCs are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology, it’s the face-to-face interactions with people from all walks of life that our staff enjoy the most.

MSC manager, Jade, has worked with us for 20 years and has been in her current role for 2 and a half of those.

‘I like the opportunity to get out there and help people. I find that interaction and engagement with customers makes your day,’ Jade said.

‘Being able to help customers resolve their issues and make a difference in their lives is what drives us. That’s what we do, that’s why we do it.’

Watch our video to see the MSCs in action, and hear how they’re making government services simple for people in regional and rural areas.
