Generalist stream in the National Graduate Program

If you have a degree and want a career in the Australian Public Service (APS), we want you in our team.

Applications for the 2026 National Graduate Program are open!

Applications close Monday 14 April 2025. Apply now.

This stream is perfect for you if:

  • you're open to exploring different professional areas
  • your degree doesn't align with our other streams.

We'll place you in a role that matches your skills and experience.

In the generalist stream, you have the flexibility to choose multiple rotations. Opting for 2 rotations is a great way to broaden your skills and knowledge. You can let us know which business area excites you the most for your second rotation. We'll do our best to make it happen, but we can't guarantee it.

Once you start, you'll remain in the generalist stream for the duration of the program.
