How to amend an overdue statement
If you didn’t return your completed statement by the due date, you can send the overdue statement to us. You must send it within 2 years from the date of your compensation settlement.
To have your overdue statement processed:
- we must be satisfied that not all the listed services were related to the injury or illness
- you must give a valid reason for failing to submit the statement by the due date.
You can give your reason in a supporting document.
What you need to do
Send us the completed overdue statement and declaration with the supporting document. The address is on the letter.
You can ask for a review
You can ask for a review of a Medicare compensation recovery decision if you don’t agree with it.
If you don’t understand or agree with a decision we’ve made, contact us and we’ll explain the decision. We may be able to resolve your concerns.
If we’re unable to, you can ask a formal review.
Request a formal review
To request a formal review, you must write to us within 28 days from the date on the letter.
You can write or email the Medicare Compensation Recovery team for a formal review.
We’ll send you a letter with the formal review outcome.
Request an Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) review
If you don’t agree with the formal review outcome, you can ask the ART to review our decision.
You’ll need to include the formal review outcome letter we send you in your request for an ART review. The ART can only review a decision that we have formally reviewed.
