If you’re buying your first prosthesis, there is no waiting period. You can claim for your reimbursement straight away.
There is a 2 year period before you can claim for a replacement. We base this on the dates of your receipts for the old prosthesis and the new one.
You may be able to claim earlier if there’s a medical reason or damage from a declared natural disaster. When you claim within 2 years of your first claim, you must include either:
- a letter from your doctor explaining your medical condition.
- a letter explaining how the disaster damaged your prosthesis.
You or your doctor can write the letter explaining how the natural disaster damaged your prosthesis.
