An Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) must deem a care recipient as eligible before they can access residential respite care. Care recipients can access 63 days of subsidised respite care in a financial year. In some situations, a recipient can apply to an ACAT for an extension of up to 21 days.
You, as their provider, can request residential respite extensions for new care recipients assessed on My Aged Care through the Aged Care Provider Portal (ACPP).
There is more information about respite care on the My Aged Care website.
You can read the steps to register a respite care recipient event using the ACPP.
