Providing more information for your application

You may need to give us extra documents as part of your CAPS application.

If we need more information for your application, we’ll ask you in writing to send it to us.

You must give us a certified copy of each document. This is where an authorised witness has signed it as a true and correct copy of the original. It can’t be a copy of a certified copy.

You’ll have 28 days to send the information we ask for. Then, 1 of the following will happen:

  • if we get it within 28 days, your payment will start on the day of your original application
  • if we get it on or after 28 days, you’ll get a rejection letter from us.

If you get a rejection letter

You’ll have 28 days to appeal our decision.

During this period, you can send us the information we’ve asked for to support your application. Then, provided you’re eligible, 1 of the following will happen:

  • if it’s within 28 days your payment will start on the day we get the information from you
  • if it’s on or after 28 days, you’ll need to reapply for the payment.
