About the Australian Immunisation Register

The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) is a national register that records all vaccines given to people in Australia.

The AIR can only accept immunisation information from recognised vaccination providers in Australia. For your patient’s safety and to help public health management, you must record all immunisation information in the AIR.

Recognised vaccination providers can use the AIR to:

National Immunisation Program Schedule

The National Immunisation Program Schedule (NIP) is on the Department of Health and Aged Care website. The schedule outlines which vaccinations people in Australia should get and when to get each vaccination.

Australian Immunisation Handbook

The Australian Immunisation Handbook is on the Department of Health and Aged Care website. The handbook provides clinical advice for safe and effective vaccine use.

National due and overdue rules for immunisation

We have national due and overdue rules for immunisation based on the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Australian Immunisation Handbook.
