How much you can get

Carer Supplement is an annual payment of $600 for each eligible payment you get. You’ll get this on top of your regular payment.

Part payments

If you get a part payment of Carer Allowance, you'll get a part payment of Carer Supplement.

How much you get depends on the percentage of care you provide.

Example of carers getting a part payment

David shares care with Jane for their friend Eric after an accident. They both get a part payment of Carer Allowance. David gets 30% of the Carer Allowance and Jane gets 70%. Because they already get a part payment, they’ll automatically get an annual part payment of Carer Supplement based on the percentage of care they provide. David will get 30% of Carer Supplement, and Jane gets 70% of Carer Supplement.

Multiple payments

You’ll get Carer Supplement for each eligible payment you get. For example, if you get Carer Payment and Carer Allowance you’ll get 2 Carer Supplements.

Example of a carer getting multiple payments

Jean gets a Carer Payment for the combined care needs for his children Sofia and Louis. He also gets 2 payments of Carer Allowance. This means he gets 3 payments for caring. Jean will get 3 payments of Carer Supplement.
