ABSTUDY School Term Allowance

A payment to help parents or guardians of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students. They need to be living at home.

Who this is for

This is a payment for parents and guardians of:

  • high school students aged under 16
  • primary students aged 14 or older as of 1 January in the year of study.

Your child must be Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and living at home. Read more about who can get it.

What kind of payment it is

We pay School Term Allowance to parents and guardians. We pay it up to 4 times a year at the beginning of each school term. To get this payment, your child must attend school at least 85% of each term.
