Healthcare Provider Directory (HPD)
The HPD lists all individual health care providers and organisations registered in the HI Service.
You can search for organisation, contact and specialty details of other health care providers published in the HPD. This can be useful when you’re sending secure messages, referrals, discharge summaries and patient test requests.

Healthcare Identifiers (HI) Service
The HI Service for health professionals is a national system that uses identifiers for individuals and health care providers.
To be eligible for a health care identifier or HI Service registration number, you must be one of the following:
- a health care provider organisation
- a supporting organisation
- an individual health care provider.
