We’ll tell you what documents we need as evidence. You need to provide these within 14 days.
This may include proof of your:
- job search activities, job interviews or applications
- employment
- enrolment in an education course, training or other program

progress if you’ve been studying for more than 6 months.
Proof of enrolment and progression for study
Proof of enrolment
The evidence you give us as proof of enrolment must include all of the following:
- your name
- the name of the educational institution
- the course name and qualification level
- the start and end date of the course
- whether you're full time, part time or your percentage load.
Proof of progression
You can give us one of the following documents as proof of your study progression:
- an academic transcript of your results
- a certificate of attainment
- other official documentation such as a letter from the course provider.
If you provide a letter, it needs to confirm completion of the course or modules. It should also detail the course or modules that you attempted or completed.
Paid work
For evidence of paid work you can give us either:
- copies of your pay slips
- a letter from your employer.
Your pay slips must include certain information. You can read about what has to be on your pay slip on the Fair Work Ombudsman website.
A letter from your employer must include all of the following:
- your name and the name of your employer
- the name of your business and ABN if you're self employed
- the address and phone number of your employment or business
- the date you started work and the date you will stop work, if applicable
- your role or position.
Unpaid work
Unpaid work includes:
- unpaid work in a family business
- a work experience placement
- internship
- voluntary work.
You need to give us a letter from your employer or business that includes all of the following:
- your name
- name of your employer and their ABN
- the date you started work and the date you will stop work, if applicable
- your role or position
- the hours you work.
For work experience, you must also include information that shows this work will improve your work skills or employment prospects.
Setting up a business
Evidence you’re setting up a business must be:
- a copy of your business registration, including your business name
- the ABN of your business
- the date you started the business.
Training
You need to give us a letter from your apprenticeship or traineeship company or educational institution. It must include all of the following:
- your name
- the name of the company or institution
- the course name and qualification level
- the start and end date of the course
- whether you're full time, part time or your percentage load.
Job search
Evidence that you’re searching for a job must be either:
- a letter from your Employment Services Provider confirming you're actively looking for work
- a record of contact
- copies of correspondence with potential employers.
It must also include a list of jobs you've applied for.
Other programs
If you take part in another program, you must give us a document from the provider of the program. It must include all of the following:
- your name
- the name of the provider
- the program name and purpose
- the start and end date of the program
- the participation requirements of the program, such as the number of hours you do each week.
