If your employee’s child is born or adopted before 1 July 2023
We may ask you to stop when any of the following applies to your employee:
- they have finished their Paid Parental Leave period and any connected Flexible Paid Parental Leave days
- they are transferring some of their Parental Leave Pay to another primary carer
- they have returned to work, except for allowable reasons including stillbirth or infant death
- they have used more than 10 keeping in touch days before the end of their continuous block of Parental Leave Pay
- they stop being your employee
- they get an income support payment from us
- they are no longer eligible for Parental Leave Pay.

If your employee’s child is born or adopted from 1 July 2023
We may ask you to stop when any of the following applies to your employee:
- they shorten their block of payment to less than 8 weeks
- they include a weekend in their block of payment
- they stop being your employee
- they get an income support payment from us
- they are no longer eligible for Parental Leave Pay.
