You may be independent under the reviewable criteria if your situation is one of the following, you’re:
- in a de facto relationship for at least 6 months
- 16 or older and have returned to live in an Indigenous Australian community after a non-Indigenous family adopted or fostered you for more than 2 years
- 15 or older and your parents can’t take care of you
- caring for, or have custody of, another person's dependent child or student
- 16 or older or have met the minimum age requirements for leaving school, and it’s unreasonable to live at home.
You must tell us if your circumstances change. If they do, you might be dependent again.
