When gifting exceptions apply

Permanent independence for Youth Allowance for students and Australian apprentices
If you’re 22 or older we’ll treat you as permanently independent. We may also do this in certain circumstances.
Income maintenance period
This waiting period may apply if you or your partner have stopped work and got leave or redundancy payments.
If you’re independent for Youth Allowance through paid work
You may be independent if you’ve supported yourself through paid work.
