Keep your BasicsCard safe

It is important to keep your BasicsCard safe. Tell us as soon as you can if your BasicsCard is lost, stolen or damaged, and don’t tell anyone your PIN.

To keep your BasicsCard safe you should do all of the following:

  • do not throw it away
  • remember to take it when you leave a store
  • keep it in your BasicsCard wallet which you get when you pick up your BasicsCard in a service centre
  • tell us as soon as possible if your card is lost, stolen or damaged.

Protect your PIN

You need to choose a 4-digit PIN when you get a BasicsCard. It protects your card so you must keep your PIN secret and secure. This means it is important that you do not do any of the following:

  • tell anyone else including family and friends, your PIN
  • write your PIN on a BasicsCard or on anything carried with a BasicsCard
  • let anyone else see your PIN when you use it
  • let anyone else use your BasicsCard.

If someone has your BasicsCard and knows your PIN, they could spend all your money.
