Australia has agreements with these countries in the Americas to share responsibilities for social security coverage.

Under these agreements you may be able to claim a:

  • Centrelink payment if you live in Australia but are visiting an agreement country
  • Centrelink payment if you live in an agreement country
  • Centrelink payment if you live in an agreement country but are visiting Australia
  • payment from an agreement country if you’re in Australia
  • payment from an agreement country if you don’t meet the residence or social insurance rules and you’ve lived in Australia.
