Managing your privacy

We keep your personal details safe and we value your online security.

When you sign in to your Medicare online account through myGov, you’ll see the date of your last access. You can also see the last update to your residential or postal address in My details.

We’ll sign you out of your account after 15 minutes if you’re not using it. This is so we can protect your information if you’re on a shared device.

Cancelling your account

If your Medicare online account is linked to myGov, you can cancel it online.

To do this:

  1. Sign in to myGov.
  2. Select Medicare from Linked services.
  3. Select Cancel Medicare online account in My details.
  4. Select the reason for cancelling your account.
  5. Tell us how you would like to restart your account again in the future.
  6. Confirm your address details.
  7. Select Cancel Medicare online account now.

Sign in to myGov

Cancelling your Medicare online account will stop anyone from accessing it. If you selected Cancel Medicare online account, you can restart it at any time.
