Changing your claim to Parental Leave Pay

If you decide Parental Leave Pay is a better option for you, you can claim Parental Leave Pay even if you’ve already received Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement. If you’re eligible, you’ll just need to pay back any Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement you got.

You can claim Parental Leave Pay either:

• up to 3 months before your child's expected date of birth or adoption
• as late as 52 weeks after their birth or adoption.

To get the full amount of Parental Leave Pay, you should claim within the timeframes. Find out more about either:

• claiming timeframes for a child born or adopted before 1 July 2023
• claiming timeframes for a child born or adopted from 1 July 2023.
