Farmers can get up to 4 years’ payment in specific 10-year periods

Previously FHA was limited to 4 years in a lifetime. Now eligible farmers and their partners can get up to 4 years’ payment in a 10-year period.

A new period started on 1 July 2024. If you used your 4 years in the last period, you can claim again if you need to.

Other improvements include:

a farmer and their partner may be able to do a combined claim
the asset limit has increased
if entitled to FHA, you get the full rate of fortnightly payment for your situation.
