Claiming a payment

You can apply for a payment before and after you’ve reached Age Pension age.

Everyone’s situation is different and it’s important you apply for the right payment for your circumstances.

We may ask you for supporting documents before you start your claim.

If you're already on a payment

You can apply to transfer from your current payment to Age Pension 13 weeks before you reach Age Pension age.

If you get an eligible payment, we’ll send you an invitation to transfer to Age Pension 13 weeks before you reach Age Pension age.

We’ll send the invitation to your online account if you have one. If you don’t, we’ll post the invitation and Age Pension transfer form to you.

If your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, sign in now to transfer to Age Pension.

If you don’t have a Centrelink online account or a myGov account you can fill out the paper Age Pension transfer form.

When you’ve reached Age Pension age

You can claim Age Pension up to 13 weeks before you reach Age Pension age.

If you’re a registered member in the Pension Bonus Scheme and are eligible, you must claim the bonus when you claim Age Pension.

You can also apply for the Home Equity Access Scheme, which is a loan we pay to you fortnightly. You or your partner can use this help to supplement your income during retirement.

If you need other support
