Claim the Tertiary Access Payment by 31 December 2024

Published: 31 October 2024

If you moved away from home in 2024 to start your first year of tertiary study, you may be eligible to claim up to $5,000.

The Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) is a one-off payment to help you with the costs of moving from a regional or remote area to study in the year immediately after finishing year 12 or equivalent.

You could be paid:

  • $5,000 in 2 instalments if you’re from an outer regional or remote area
  • $3,000 as one lump sum if you’re from an inner regional area.

You can still claim the TAP if you’re getting other payments from us, like Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY and Relocation Scholarship.

You must claim before 31 December 2024.

Follow these steps to claim the Tertiary Access Payment.
