Published: 21 April 2025

Claim ABSTUDY before travelling to help with your travel, accommodation and meal costs.

ABSTUDY is a group of payments and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and apprentices.

If your child needs to move away for study, ABSTUDY can help you visit high schools together before enrolment. This could be for:

  • open days
  • interviews
  • orientation activities.

You can meet the teachers, ask questions and see where your child will live away from home.

It’s important you claim ABSTUDY before travelling.
