Travelling companions

A travelling companion can get help to travel with you if you’re sick, hurt or live with a disability.

You must get ABSTUDY Fares Allowance and need a travel companion because you’re sick, hurt or live with a disability.

A travelling companion is anyone who can help you travel. They can get the allowance for a return trip to the following places:

  • between their home and your place of study
  • to another location you are travelling to.

A travelling companion can travel with you for all types of travel. They can also travel one way.
