You can book travel for students impacted by an emergency or disaster, who are getting either:
- the higher rates of ABSTUDY when living away from home
- ABSTUDY Away from Base Assistance while they’re on an Away from Base activity.
Emergencies and disasters are serious and potentially dangerous conditions or events that need immediate action. They include any of the following:
- federal, state or local government declared emergencies
- natural disasters
- major accidents
- pandemic lockdowns
- fires
- cyclones
- floods.
You can book travel for students and non-student travellers for trips to:
- return to their home
- return to their place of study
- travel to an alternative safe location.
To book, call the National Business Gateway line and select the ABSTUDY option. You may also need to follow the process to book travel.
