About rejected DVA claims

A reason code tells you why a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) claim has been rejected.

Some claims can be resubmitted once you correct the claim error.

The most common reasons why a claim is rejected include:

  • the incorrect item number was used
  • the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Health Card holder isn’t entitled to the service
  • a White Card holder claim doesn’t have the condition treated specified or was provided for a condition DVA hasn’t accepted financial responsibility for
  • the information needed to assess the claim was missing
  • there’s an issue with a service provider’s eligibility
  • the GST status was not recorded
  • the ABN has not been supplied.
