Why your payments might change
When you move into an aged care home, your personal and financial circumstances change. These changes may mean we pay you more or less for your income support payment.
Most people keep getting the same amount of income support payment after moving into an aged care home. But the amount can change depending on:
- which payment you get
- the changes to your personal and financial circumstances.
You only need to tell us about a change to your details once. We’ll update your details for both your income support payment and your aged care costs.
How to pay your income support payment to your aged care provider
You can ask for your income support payment to go straight to your aged care provider. This means we stop paying it to you, and pay it to your aged care provider instead. They’ll do the following:
- take out the amount you pay towards your aged care costs
- hold the rest in a trust account for you, or transfer it to you or your nominee.
