Qualifying pensions

You must be eligible for a qualifying pension to access the Home Equity Access Scheme.

The qualifying pensions are:

We’ll consider you eligible for one of these qualifying pensions if you either:

  • currently get one of these pensions
  • meet the qualifying rules for one, but don’t get a payment, for example, your rate is zero because your income or assets are over the threshold.

If you’re under Age Pension age and you don’t already get a qualifying pension, you’ll need to apply for one. This is so we can work out if you meet the qualifying rules. You can use the Payment Finder to see which payment is best for you.

Pensioner Concession Card

The Home Equity Access Scheme does not qualify you for a Pensioner Concession Card.

Pension Bonus Scheme

If you’re in the Pension Bonus Scheme, it may affect your eligibility if you apply for either:

  • the Home Equity Access Scheme
  • a qualifying pension.

One of our Financial Information Service officers can give you information to help you work out what’s best for you.
