When you retire, we have payments and loans and concession cards that can help you with health care and the cost of living.
When you reach Age Pension age
Age Pension is the main payment for people when they reach Age Pension age. You don’t need to retire from the workforce to claim Age Pension.
If you’re eligible, you can read how to prepare your claim and what supporting documents you’ll need.
You can decide how you’d like to claim Age Pension. If your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, sign in now to claim the payment.
You can also fill out a form. If you choose to fill out the claim form, you may also need to complete other forms.
You can claim Age Pension from 13 weeks before you reach Age Pension age.
Combined claims
If your partner is also claiming Age Pension at the same time, you may be able to complete a combined claim.
The combined claim option will appear in your online account if you and your partner are eligible to use it.
Alternatively, each of you can claim in your own online account, or both of you can complete a paper claim.
Claiming together means we’ll assess you and your partner for Age Pension at the same time.
If you’re already on a payment
When you reach Age Pension age, you can apply to transfer from your current eligible payment to Age Pension. You don’t need to make a new claim for Age Pension.
We’ll invite you to transfer to Age Pension 13 weeks before you reach Age Pension age. If you decide to transfer payments and your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, sign in now to transfer online.
You can also fill out the Transfer to Age Pension form we send you in the mail.
