Centrelink Medical Certificate timeframes can now be up to 24 months

Published: 1 January 2025

You can provide a medical certificate to patients who can’t participate in work or other activities due to a medical condition.

The maximum time for a medical certificate was previously 13 weeks. It will now be up to 24 months.

This extension of time only applies for some job seekers with payment requirements.

We use the medical certificate to assess if your patient can get an exemption from their requirements for Centrelink payments.
